Just another update to my four shaft version of the the Rhythm Crackle Weave draft. In the first version I neglected to differentiate the weft into pattern and tabby, which are contrasting colors. (If you know me, you know it might take me a while to let the concept evolve : – ).
So, here is what the pattern looks like when rendered in contrasting weft colors:
This is how I wove my first little hand towel in this pattern:
You can weave this draft both ways! The pattern floats will never be more than 3 threads.
So, if you have already requested and received this draft from me, all you have to do is change the color order in the treadling sequence to dark/light (dark for pattern, light for tabby), and you are good to go. Cheers!
I am totally enthralled by this design. I don’t see the draft for sale on your blog or in your Etsy shop. I would like to buy the draft from you if you will tell me how. Looking forward to your reply.

I will need your email to do that. Also, please consider purchasing this pattern from my Etsy shop (link on the right side of the blog page). You will receive a PDF instruction sheet that may be helpful, in addition to the WIF file.

Ok, I readily admit to being a bit dense. I am confused by your statement, “You can weave this draft both ways!” Do you mean with or without tabby? With or without contrasting colors? Something else? This will be my first towel warp for 2024…I just have to make time to get there. 🙂

Sorry! What I meant was you can weave it with one shuttle and one weight of weft, or with two shuttles and two colors and weights of weft , as with overshot or summer and winter. Either way, you will still be using tabby every other shot. Hope this helps!

I love this draft and would also like a copy if it’s available! I notice that the draft seems to repeat picks 1-20 twice – is this intentional to allow for hems?

The treadling sequence does not allow for a separate hem. I would just weave the hem in pattern and allow enough length to include a hem on each end. I can send you the draft, but I will need your email.
